In Directing

Funeral Game

In January 2020 I direct the world premiere of  Funeral Game, by Lana Palmer.  Two sisters meet at the family cabin to decides its fate. As they negotiate the present and future, they must inevitably account for the past.

Our process has been grounded in both the Michael Chekhov technique and Stanislavski’s Active Analysis, which empowers our two wonderful actors, Emma Attwood and Raechel Richman, to explore, improvise, and add depth to their scenes.

As the title of the play implies, there is a tension in this story between a joyful spirit of childhood and playfulness, and the realities of growing up.  Lana Palmer has written a rich, moving script, and it is embodied by two extraordinary actors.  Our rehearsals have been moving, powerful experiences of a journey from loss to love.
